Ever notice that alot of rock stars are dorky looking guys?
Q. Especially the new ones. They sound all bad a** on the radio but when you see there music videos they look really plain or dorky looking. Most of the time they don't look how I pictured them. Alot of them that do some of the most harcore music don't fit the part.

Do you think Alex from American Idol Season 9 is DORKY?
Q. He said on the show that people have been saying he is dorky. But I think he is totally NOT dorky, he seems dorky because he's shy and nervous. What do you think?

A. I never thought he was dorky. Just smart, witty and nervous. I liked him both in personality and singing voice. He was actually one of my first favorites along with Cody Sheldon. Their voices were similar to me at the beginning of the season. I liked Alex. :)

Do you think some dorky boys just need a firm dad to give them a kick in the butt?
Q. Every child's different, but I see some boys who are real wusses and wonder where the father is. I saw this guy at the beach today who totally could have used some tough love. Why? Because life is hard, and parents are doing the kid no favors by enabling him to be a wuss about various things, such as if sea life might be touching him. He was way too old to be acting like that.

A. It really depends on what you mean by a "firm" dad and just how irrational the child's fears were in relation to the dangers involved, as well as his age, of course! I don't believe in "tough love" to teach a child about life. My sons were always treated with respect, dignity and love and they are definitely not wusses and definitely not dorky. I would say if this child was something like 12 and was acting like maybe a toddler and afraid of everything in sight, then the parents probably hadn't done too good a job of raising him. Maybe they have sheltered and coddled him too much instead of allowing him room to learn and grow along the way. A child needs to be allowed some independence in measured amounts as is appropriate for his age… [cont.]
