The word geek is a slang term, noting individuals as "One who is perceived to be overly obsessed with one or more things including those of intellectuality, electronics, etc." Formerly, the term referred to a carnival performer often billed as a wild man whose act usually includes biting the head off a live chicken, bat, snake or bugs. The 1976 edition of the American Heritage Dictionary included only the definition regarding geek shows. This word comes from English dialect geek, geck: fool, freak; from Low German geck, from Middle Low German. The root geck still survives in Dutch and Afrikaans gek: crazy, as well as some German dialects, and in the Alsatian word Gickeleshut: geek's hat, used in carnivals. Does anyone know price ranges, and or other companies/people that could do it? It's very spammed up, and i'm sure there is loads of viruses. First of all dont pay geek squad to do such a simple job. Your probably looking at around $100. I could do it if you ask me. but you can do it too! If its a dell laptop, I would advise to look up the manual online by entering your Service Tag (bottom of the laptop) or laptop model. In the manual you will look up what buttons to press at start up (when turning on) It maybe be the F11, or F10, or F8 key. There is usually a "secret partition" that will enable you to restore everything from Factory Settings. And guess what ? its free and you dont have to do anything, just press the key and accept the changes, and wait maybe an hour or two. I think some people misunderstand the question. Are you referring to those completely cheesey movies where everything they do with the computer is stupidly advanced and nothing like actual computer use? I don't know, I guess if they're only actors and not really using the computer, they just hit random keys while they do their lines or whatever. Also, what other people said about keyboard shortcuts replacing mouse functions is true. But I think you are supposed to get the impression that the way they master the computer through nothing but fast typing and hitting keys makes them a complete genius, it helps put the image in your head.
