What brands should i stick to when buying home appliances?
Q. Im buying appliances for my new home but im not sure which brands are the most reliable. Im thinking of buying a fridge, washing machine and microwave. Obviouslly Miele is the best but that is out of my budget. Other brands i have seen selling are Samsung, Fischer and Paykel, Electrolux, and BOSCH. Which of these brands are best for general home appliances?
Asked by Q - Thu Jul 30 05:19:18 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Depends on prices and features: For entertainment I would stick with Sony or LG. Kitchen - I have LG fridge and microwave and Whirlpool everything else big, except dishwasher which is a Kmart brand - and I have to keep cleaning the filter on it which I have never had to do with other dishwashers. My 5y/o $10 Coles brand kettle is still going strong Our washing machine is Fisher and Paykel and working fine 4 years down the track Anything branded with at least a 1yr warranty you can generally rely on

How do I know what brands of supplements have the potency correctly stated on the bottle?
Q. I have heard of and seen programs where they test certain brands of vitamins and other supplements sold in drug stores. On these programs they 'expose' brands as not having in the 'pill' what the brands say they have. For example, a glucosamine capsule which advertises 1500 units on the bottle may only have 1000. This is just an example. I do not remember the brands which were 'bad' nor the supplement. So, my question is, how do I know I am paying for what I am getting? Today, I entered into a health store which sells a huge selection of vitamins and other pills. I wanted a specific supplement which might the pain I have in my rotator cuff. A. you never really know whats true and whats false when it comes to health...the best thing you can do is to research on your own. I recommend this website as I swear by it : www.newstarget.com you can type in any word in the search engine there (i.e a vitamin) and usually it has a very detailed yet simple explanation for what you're looking for. also you might want to try 'arnica' gel for any aches, pains and bruises...its amazing.

What brands for chicken and/or fish treat the animals the best?
Q. I know there are lots of brands of chicken which are free range & organic & anti-biotic free. But I've heard some companies bend their own rules a bit, and some stick to it well. And what are some brands for fish that the fish are caught from the wild?
Asked by Burgermon121 - Wed Mar 3 19:10:33 2010 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments
A. You're wasting your time. According to the USDA website, antibiotics must be stopped a certain number of days before the animal is slaughtered. Free range only means that the animal is ALLOWED access to the outdoors, not that it lives a happy carefree farm life before slaughter. Most chickens would prefer to stay indoors where the food and water is, and free from predators (blissfully unaware that their biggest predator is the one supplying the food and water!). Organic is misleading, because there is a long list of natural and synthetic chemicals that are allowed in the raising of chickens, things you would never think of putting in your food. The best bet is to raise your own chickens so you know what is going into them. Otherwise, stop… [cont.]

What are good brands of glucosamine supplements?
Q. I'm starting my older beagle on glucosamine supplements soon; she'll be 10 soon, and I figure no harm starting my 7 year old girl on them too. There are quite a few brands to pick from, so I was wondering if anyone has any good recommendations. The pet stores I have visited carry Actipet, Nupro Joint Support and NaturVet. Any comments on these brands? I'll be in Melbourne in December, so maybe I'll pick some Sasha's Blend up. Thanks!

A. I'm not familiar with those products, so can't give you any comments on them, but if you can get it I would highly recommend Sasha's Blend. I have seen a lot of dogs put on it (including my own animals), and they do very, very well. It's an Australian product, and is stocked by most vets here. I'm not sure how readily available it is from pet shops if you're overseas, but it can be bought online. ADD: in response to your update- I'm pretty sure that it can ONLY be bought from a vet clinic, but it's an over the counter product. Definitely worth picking some up if you're going to be out here- I swear by it!

Q. I'm kinda new to make up and need some suggestions on what brands I should buy and where I can get them. Nothing expensive though.

A. I love Covergirl foundations and eyeshadows. The foundations come in so many different natural skin tones, it's absolutely impossible not to find one for you. The eyeshadows come in hundreds of fun and youthful colors. They play up any eye color and eye shape. I love Victoria's Secret lip glosses. They smell really good and are a popular brand. The best blush comes from Neutrogena. They also have the best face washes and face rinses for morning and night.

What are some decent electric violin brands?
Q. I have an acoustic violin that was about $600 and i love it. But instead of carting it back and forth from school, i would like an electric violin to keep at home. What are the best brands for waxing at home?
Q. Hey everyone. The summer is coming very quickly and I, personally, am not looking forward to shaving. I have never waxed my legs or any part of my body, except for eye brows, and was wondering which brand of waxing is the best and the cheapest cost for at home waxing. Also, how long does waxing usually last for and perhaps which brands last the longest to be included in the answer. Thanks.
Asked by Megan Barton - Sun May 2 11:14:01 2010 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Veet is good. It varies from person to person depending on how fast your hair grows but it lasts about 3 weeks on my legs. I wouldn't recommend the wax that you heat up in the microwave. It is very messy and hot and painful and gets on everything. Oh and another waxing tip, if you find it too painful or end up with some wax left on your legs then baby oil gets it off water does not!

A. Always start out with lighter beer style like an American lager and then to a pilsner style and then pale ale. Once you have gotten the path laid go for anything you want or have not had before. Budweiser/Coors Sudwerk or Gordon Biersch Pilsner (even Sam Adams Lager is okay) Sierra Nevada Pale Ale Brown, Porter, Stout Ales

Can 2 projectors of different brands be connected together and work at the same speed?
Q. I have an epson svga projector. I will be getting another projector today that may be of another brand. I want to know if I can connect the two if they're of different brands. Will they work at the same speed? Close quality? Anything I should know? Thanks!
Asked by Jargon - Thu Nov 6 17:01:47 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. The "speed" is not an issue. The refresh rate is determined by the PC feeding the signal to the projector. You biggest issues will be: (1) Brightness and Contrast. The LUMENS rating of most projectors is laughable. So is the contrast ratio. So just going by the specs will only give you a general idea of the final projected image. (2) Color rendition. Think of this in the same way as when you go to a store and see all those TVs side by side. How often is the color rendition on two different brands exactly the same? (3) Image size. Will you be able to get the same size image on your screen at the same distance? This is one instance where the specs WILL tell you what you need to know.

What dog toy brands do you most recomend?
Q. If we do get a new dog, I need to know of some good squeaky toy brands, collars, bowls, beds, etc. Any ideas? Links to websites would be nice, and the dog is a girl.
Asked by Dana - Sun Jul 6 13:02:29 2008 - - 8 Answers - 0 Comments
A. For collars and leashes, I like Lupine brand. They replace them free of charge, no questions asked, if they get destroyed. For toys, here are some of my favorite brands: * Kong - * Tuffies - * Planet Dog - For bowls and beds, any brand will do. Stainless steel dog bowls are excellent because they don't absorb odors, don't harbor germs, don't break if dropped, and are dishwasher safe. Also, for choosing a high-quality dog food, choose from the 4, 5, and 6 star foods on this website. (For puppies, stick to the 4 & 5 star foods, many of the 6 star foods are high-protein, which is better for adult dogs.) .

Why do different brands of blue ballpoint ink have different odors?
Q. After using differnt brands of blue ballpoint pens, I've noticed that the inks smell differently from one another. I have not noticed this when using black pens.

A. Both black inks and blue inks from different pens/brands/etc. contain different components. You can verify this for yourself by doing a little paper chromatography:

A. In boards I would say Plan B. I use a Plan B Prolight with Shecler on the bottom. I just got this wood yesterday so I hope it lasts me a while. In clothes in stuff I would say Circa. Well I am wearing a Darkstar t-shirt right now so yeah. Shoes I would probably say like Adio or Air Speed because why buy a pair of 70$ shoes at a local skate store if you can get a pair of 20$ pair of Air Speeds from Walmart that last you just as long? But I have a pair of both and there both durable. DC shoes are trash to me, completely throwing away your money.
