Is it really necessary to wear a retainer anymore after wearing one for years?
Q. I really am so sick and tired of wearing that damn thing. I have been wearing it all the time for awhile, then every night, then once a week, now it is about every other week at most. I have been loyally wearing it for years. I can't fall asleep when i try to wear it at night, and I have fears that it might even be causing damage to my gums. Haven't I come to the point where I don't really need to wear it anymore??

A. Yes, it is very well necessary to still wear it, retainers are meant to keep your teeth in alignment for the rest of your life and you keep it if for the rest of your life. But as others have said, you can get a permanent retainer. It's called a "Fixed Retainer." A fixed retainer typically consists of a passive wire bonded to the tongue-side of the lower incisors (lower incisors are the 4 bottom front teeth). Although i recommend you do not get a fixed retainer, fixed retainers are usually the source of tartar build-up, due to the placement and difficulty with flossing, tartar build-up can occur, and could lead to severe gingivitis, depending on how well you keep your dental hygiene. Q. I play in Little League Im 14. I just got my uniform, socks, and cap. I was wondering what would be the correct way to wear them. I mean can i just wear the Jersey without a shirt underneath. The socks. I have pants that go half way between your knees and your ankle. So should I like wear the socks on top of the pants or should I wear them under. A retainer is needed especially on the lower due to the strength of the tongue, it has a tendency to push the teeth out of alignment even after many years of having orthodontic treatment completed. He may want to consider having a fixed retainer placed on the lower, just so he doesn't loose it again and for peace of mind. Although most orthodontist now prefer that their patients have a fixed retainer placed on the lowers as it eliminates "the loss of retainers," "movement or shifting of teeth" and it's "permanently fixed in the mouth." He probably should see his orthodontist or dentist to have it evaluated before too long, once they shift, a retainer can't really put them back. I'm sure he would hate to have to do ortho again. What is the purpose of wearing a slip under a skirt or dress that is impossible to see through?
Q. I adjusting the zipper of my (already lined) business suit type skirt in the ladies room at the office. The top of my pantyhose had gotten caught in the zipper. A coworker noticed that I wasn't wearing a slip under it and told me that it was "improper" for a woman not to wear a slip. All of the skirts I wear are already lined, are made of thick fabric or are really loose and billowy so its impossible to see any trace of my underwear. I've always found slips unnecessary, plus the feel of the fabrics they're usually made of all over my legs REALLY creeps me out for some reason. Will wearing soccer cleats affect a tattoo on my foot 3 1/2 days after I get it?

The eyeshadow is applied with a thin brush or tip, darker at the outside corners and sweeping in. If you decide to do this, be SURE that you have no bags under your eyes as this will enhance those bags. (They can be reduced with a hemorrhoid or skin tightening cream.) Generally the color used under the eye should be the same lighter accent color used in the corners of the eye and possibly the crease, but should not be the same color as the eyelid itself.

How to shower while wearing a pikline?
Q. Ma father has a pickline(permanent IV line) installed in his left arm, which cannot be exposed to water. We purchased a plastic glove that is similar to what the farmers wear to check on their cows, its a long glove that goes up to his arm pit and sealed into place with 2 velcro strips. But his glove is now wearing thin and will soon need to be replaced and I cannot find any more anywhere. Any tips on what he can use instead?

A. Put a hole in the bottom of a plastic bag and then tape it to his arm so it forms a sort of plastic sleeve ... tape it really well around the top part and at the bottom section tape the upper bit but leave the lower bit free so water that does get in can drain out.

We purchased a plastic glove that is similar to what the farmers wear to check on their cows, its a long glove that goes up to his arm pit and sealed into place with 2 velcro strips. But his glove is now wearing thin and will soon need to be replaced and I cannot find any more anywhere. Any tips on what he can use instead?

A. Put a hole in the bottom of a plastic bag and then tape it to his arm so it forms a sort of plastic sleeve ... tape it really well around the top part and at the bottom section tape the upper bit but leave the lower bit free so water that does get in can drain out.

How can you make it look like your wearing eyeliner without actually wearing it?
Q. I'm afraid to wear eyeliner. If i have anything close to my eyes i freak out but i like the way eyeliner looks on people. Is there a way to look like your wearing eyeliner without actually wearing it?

A. get some black eye shadow and use your finger tips to apply it right on your bottom eye lashes, it looks pretty much exactly like eye liner

What is the significance of a man wearing an anklet on his right ankle ?
Q. Anklet is thin red beaded twine type anklet, worn on right ankle. What would be significance of wearing one on left ankle or two on one, one on each, etc...? Are there unwritten messages being sent by wearing one in a certain way ?

A. anklets make a guy stand out. it gives them confidence and even a better reason why he looks super cute despite generalizations on his appearance. i think it's cute, but it's to say that very few guys do it. i wouldn't mind wearing one for sure. a guy i used to attend high school with did that in '03 before i graduated. i saw another guy who was probably 13 did it while he was shopping in american eagle. it's more of an individual statement than say mainstream.
